Silencing Your Inner Critic

Silencing your inner critic can help you start to get out of your own way but there’s a more effective way. Using the silencing technique is only a temporary solution for two key reasons: First, it fails to address why the inner critic showed up. Second, it means you’re spending energy fighting yourself instead of harnessing that energy to help you. Most of my clients “know better” when their inner critic shows up, but it still freezes them. That’s normal because it’s not about what you know. It’s about self-protection. Your inner critic has a lot of power, and it shows up for a reason.

In this episode of Unlimited, I explore engaging and redirecting the inner critic’s power, rather than trying to silence your inner critic.

Some of what I talk about in this episode includes:

  • Shame and motivation
  • The internalization of hurt
  • Identity storytelling and affirmation
  • Repurposing the inner critic energy
  • 5 Steps to shift the self-story
